7 August 2020 - 15 Minute Fiction Friday

The crunch of the snow below the slowing tyres did little to quell the dissipating blares of the passing sirens nearby, and as Dana rested her forehead on the steering wheel, she tried to evaluate how it had all gone so terribly wrong.

Blood and glass filled a gruesome scene behind her, as her partner continued to bleed out lifelessly atop their, now tarnished, heap of money.

Guilt quickly threatened to overwhelm her, but for the unexpected shout of a lone officer outside – “get out of the car!” – another innocent victim, unaware of the gun still gripped in her hand.
