20 December 2019 - 15 Minute Fiction Friday

The clocks chimed midnight on Christmas Eve
as George filled the stockings by the fire.
He remembered when he felt that excitement too,
the magic of Santa Claus, reindeers, prior…
to the realities of life taking his parents away,
and instead, dull Christmas orphanages ensued.
He remembered the day he lost faith in that jolly old man
The fifth year his Christmas wish fell through
But the magic it seemed might return this day
As he brushed a stocking aside
An envelope he had never seen before fell lightly to the floor
To George, from Mum and Dad, with pride.
