A thick yellow haze descended, cruelly meandering through what had been a scene of such calm, only seconds before.
Was it the haze, or the tinnitus drowning out the explosive growl the rumbling earth beneath him told him was there? He gasped, falling back, anxiously drawing in what he knew were his last doses of clean air, before everything changed.
He was sure it was a blessing… he could only imagine the terrible screams ringing out nearby, ignored by the turbines ahead, nonchalantly resolute in their defence.
How had they been so foolish as to release such danger, now, here?
