10 May 2019 - 15 Minute Fiction Friday
For years I sat upon this bench
And scanned the passers by
Midst shadows of autumn light through leaves
Of you I did espy
A sparkling glance, a nervous grin
The suspicion, then intrigue key
Whatever it was that made your mind
You sat down beside me
We spoke, we lay, we laughed, we cried
If I'd known what I know now
I'd have said more, shared more, cried more but
With you forever time can't allow
Days, Months, Years ahead I have
Alone on this bench once more
Though all I see through my aged eyes
Is your sparkle of life restored
