Jacob clutched his sister’s hand tightly.
They had always talked about it, going to sleep and exploring magical places, battling monsters and saving the world, together.
Past the forest opening birds, singing overhead, tracked their way through flaming gold skies to the safety of their castle nesting place. The river glistened and butterflies of purest white flew, their wings gently nudging the autumnal leaves from their branches.
They both beamed at each other, eyes gleaming, and walked towards adventure.
Julia’s eyes watered as she wrote the final words. Her children lived on now, forever, in the comfort of the pages.
